Through the
years, I've worked for several different heating and air
conditioning companies. Although, each one of those businesses
focused on selling a different brand, they all had one thing in
common - each and every one of them sold the absolute very best
brand on the market! Office personnel, service technicians and salespeople were
trained to toe the company line, "If we don't sell it - it's junk!"
All employees were required to verbalize that message to the
consumer.
I'm aware of the fact that some
brand names are far more recognizable and expensive than others but
the real truth is: there’s no junk brands in the marketplace.
Ordinarily, unit failure has little or nothing to do with brand name
and everything to do with inferior installation, improper sizing and
neglect (poor maintenance). If any ONE of those three areas is
overlooked - the unit will work harder and fail sooner. |

BOTTOM LINE: It's not
brand name that counts! When a salesperson starts
pitching you on brand name alone - step away from the plate.
Avoid making your decision solely on the basis of
brand name or price.
Even
the most expensive and the most recognizable name brand is not right
for your home unless its installed correctly and properly sized.
Proper sizing and quality of the installation should be your highest
priority, because it's sizing and installation, not brand name,
that will determine energy cost, comfort, dependability and
durability. After the installation, follow-up with proper
maintenance: regular filter changes; remove vegetation around the
compressor motor; clean the heat exchanger; insure floor registers
are unblocked and clear the condensation drip line on a regular
basis.
If you're looking for straight talk
about heating and air conditioning without the hype, call me.
You may be surprised to learn some of the least expensive, less
advertised, brands actually carry the best warranties. Finding
a higher price is easy. Finding better service is impossible. |
